Global Art in an Intercultural Context– Prof. Dr. Hans Bjarne Thomsen / Renovación
16. March 2016
Over the past few years, a substantial interest in the new discipline of global art has developed. The most commonly posed question is, simply, how art even can be global at all. How can art produced all over the world speak to or interact with everyone? Would the message be the same for all?
In his lecture, Hans Bjarne Thomsen (Professor and Chair for East Asian Art History, Art History Institute, University of Zurich) will more closely examine and discuss the idea of global art and its earlier forms. The examined questions will mostly focus on case studies from around the world, with special attention paid to east Asian art.
