Despite the noteworthy accomplishments of women’s movements, millions of girls around the world are still condemned to a life marked by poverty and inequality because of one reason: that they are girls. Women may be forging ahead in government, corporations, and universities, but even in 2014 a girl from Cameroun noted how ‘girls are the slaves of boys and men and their problems are not important.’ Education of girls around the world can change, and this is shown in an engaging lecture by Maike Röttger, head of the Geschäftsführung Plan International Deutschland (International Business Management Germany).
